Detroit's New Year's Eve ball drop moving to Beacon Park from Campus Martius

December 19, 2017

The annual New Year’s Eve ball drop in downtown Detroit is getting a new home with more space.

“The Drop” — DTE Energy’s Motor City NYE Presented by Quicken Loans — is moving from Campus Martius to Beacon Park located at Grand River and Cass avenues, event producers say.

“Beacon Park’s energy and beauty will provide the ideal backdrop for ringing in the new year,” Nancy Moody, vice president of Public Affairs for DTE Energy, said in a news release sent by event organizers at Motor City NYE LLC. “We’re proud to support this Detroit tradition and to provide the venue for party goers and families alike to celebrate a one-of-a-kind New Year’s Eve.”
